Kaadan is a well-intentioned tale of animal conservation by filmmaker Prabhu Solomon, who earned a name for himself with films like Kumki and Mynaa. Rana Daggubati makes his full-length Tamil debut in this flick. The plot of Kaadan is admirable, yet the film fails to create an impression. The plot revolves around Rana's character, who is based on environmental activist Jadav Payeng, also known as the Forest Man of India, who resists encroachment in a forest on his own. The early scenes of the film focus on the character's relationship with the animals, particularly the elephants. The storey concerning forest encroachment is timely, and when presented well, it may be highly persuasive.
Kaadan aspires to be ambitious, yet his ambition is scattered. In the first half, it features a nice plot arc. Vishnu Vishal, for example, portrays a mahout who assists the government in fending off wild elephants, but his character is abruptly killed off at the conclusion of the first half, with no subsequent scenes. Although Zoya Hussain's character has a dark history, she plays a minor role in the tale. Shriya Saran's character, a reporter who genuinely believes in the fundamental cause, is in the same boat. After a while, it feels like a picture constructed only for the goal of boosting Rana's character at the expense of the supporting cast.
Rana provides a mature performance as the forest guy, one of his greatest to date. However, without it, the movie falls flat like a pack of cards. The magnificence of the woodland is primarily represented through mediocre visual effects. Kaadan is a highly predictable picture, with its grandeur serving just as a gimmick to present the movie on a big scale.
